YBI is partnered with governments, NGOs, schools, multilateral organizations, and donors, to build systems, programs, and materials that divert young offenders into productive rehabilitation, facilitate safe, supported, re-entry following incarceration, and the develop of follow up job, education and counseling support to reduce recidivism.
A central program element of the four country YouthBuild network in Central America will be restorative justice activities to assist formerly incarcerated, gang involved young people with re-entry challenges. In the US, YouthBuild managed a 34 site national Youthful Offender demonstration project, funded for three years by the USDOL, and engaged over 1,000 adjudicated young people in local YouthBuild programs. In Scotland, YBI’s partner, Kibble is the largest national provider of services to youthful offenders.
