YouthBuild has more than 30 years of experience designing and implementing community-based and national education and training programs for young people. YBI partners with governments, NGOs, schools, multi-lateral organizations, and donors to build the capacity of youth employment and training systems, on-the-ground programs, community organizations, and youth workers. YBI conducts assessments, designs and delivers training, consults on systems design, develops materials, and leverages resources to improve the effectiveness, impact, scale, and sustainability of the international youth sector especially related to youth employment, civic engagement, alternative education, and criminal justice. YouthBuild’s network of operating programs couples policy with practice and provides a laboratory for ongoing development and innovation in program design and delivery.
Through YBI’s partnerships with global institutions, including the ImagineNations Group, Plan International, Catholic Relief Services, streetfootballworld, Citigroup, the Education Development Center, and USAID, YBI is consulting to employment and youth entrepreneurship initiatives on four continents, in such diverse locations as Haiti, Serbia, West Bank/Gaza, Vietnam, India and Timor-Leste.
YBI’s training and technical assistance for NGO staff has played an essential role in sustaining youth programs and in supporting NGOs. In Serbia, South Africa, and Central America, YouthBuild trained youth workers in program design and management as part of a USDOL funded Youth Development Practitioner Apprenticeship (YDPA) certificate program. This first-in-the-nation program provided professional development to youth workers using a true apprenticeship model of academic study, on-the-job training, and systematic advancement toward professional competence. In Asia, under contract with Plan International, YBI carried out an assessment of youth livelihood programs in five countries.
Technical services are supported through grants, contracts, and consulting fees. For more information including consulting rates contact us
