The YouthBuild IDEJEN Rebuilding Academy will unfold over the next five years and will engage 9,000 out of school, unemployed Haitian youth in rebuilding the earthquake devastated country. As young people work on construction sites to rebuild houses, community centers, schools and other critical community infrastructure they will be learning essential technical and soft skills and spending half of their time in a classroom advancing their basic education skills.
YouthBuild International and its local Haitian partner IDEJEN have been successful in raising the necessary capital to support the launch and implementation of the core Academy program elements from generous institutional donors, including the MasterCard Foundation, Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, Inter-American Development Bank and USAID . But there are many current and anticipated costs related to the Academy training infrastructure in Haiti and to supporting the long term success of students and graduates which require additional funding.
